MANILA – The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) announced that it will resume the 50-percent subsidy for domestic tourists taking a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, but only for point-to-point (P2P) air travel from May 15 to June 30, 2021.

The Office of the President earlier declared a general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions status for Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite, collectively known as the NCR Plus.

Only essential travel in and out of the said bubble was allowed, but the national government permitted P2P air travel for leisure purposes.

Under the P2P setup, only chartered flights from NCR Plus to a resort in an area under GCQ or modified GCQ will be allowed, which may involve short, private transfers by land or sea.

Only accommodation establishments that have been granted a certificate of authority to operate for P2P travel may accept guests from NCR Plus.

The two hospitals where qualified tourists can avail of the 50-percent subsidy for the RT-PCR test are the Philippine General Hospital in Manila and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City. (PNA)
