4.3K new survivors bring PH recovery tally to 1.1M

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 4,335 new recovered cases, pushing the total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide to 1,131,942.

In its latest Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said the figure is equivalent to a 94.3-percent recovery rate out of a total of 1,200,430 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

It also reported tallied 6,483 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 48,109.

Of the active cases, about 92.7 percent are mild, 2.2 percent are asymptomatic, 2.1 percent are severe, 1.47 are moderate, and 1.6 percent are in critical condition.

It also logged 210 new deaths, pushing the death toll to 20,379 or 1.70 percent of total cases.

"About 25 duplicates were removed from the total case count and of these, 22 are recoveries. In addition, four cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count, and of these, two are recoveries," the DOH said.

Data submitted on May 25 also showed that 12.5 percent of 47,869 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

All laboratories were operational on May 25 while six laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

"Based on data in the last 14 days, the six non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 2.2 percent of samples tested and 3.9 percent of positive individuals," the DOH said.

Currently, 59 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 46 percent of 13,600 isolation beds, 48 percent of 6,000 ward beds, and 38 percent of 2,000 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 57 percent of 700 intensive care unit beds, 41 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, 39 percent of 2,200 ward beds, and 38 percent of 800 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region.

The public is reminded to stay at home and to observe minimum health standards when going out.

The DOH urged those experiencing Covid-19 symptoms to immediately isolate and contact the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams. (PNA)
