LAOAG CITY – Dine-in services of all food establishments in this city have been temporarily banned to arrest the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections.

Effective Tuesday (June 1) until further notice, restaurants, eateries, commissaries, kiosks and the like cannot serve dine-in customers at all times in order to control local transmission.

In the meantime, they can still operate delivery and take-out services or operate an outdoor dining area at 50 percent maximum venue capacity.

Diners are also required to observe minimum public health standard such as at least three feet physical distancing, wearing of face mask and face shield.

“Take-out services and delivery are strongly encouraged,” Mayor Michael M. Keon said in a statement.

The mayor signed the amended copy of his latest executive order No. MMK-129, series of 2021, on Monday afternoon after his meeting with some restaurant owners here who are greatly affected by the series of granular lockdowns.

For personal care services, beauty salons, beauty parlors and spas shall be limited to outdoor operations and home services but all persons shall wear face masks at all times, the updated memo said.

To ensure strict compliance to Covid-19 restrictions, all barangay officials, personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, health personnel and duly delegated local enforcers are mandated to monitor violators with corresponding penalties under RA 11332 and other related laws and ordinances.

In a Zoom press conference with Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc on Tuesday, the governor said business owners need to evolve to fit for the pandemic.

On the part of the provincial government, it started to open up an alfresco food park at the La Tabacalera Center just across the Ilocos Norte Capitol building to provide a safer public space for some gastronomic treats and entertainment. (PNA
