MANILA – All tropical cyclone wind signals (TCWS) were lifted as Tropical Storm (TS) Dante continues to move away from the landmass, a state forecaster said Thursday noon.
"Although it continues to move away from the Philippine landmass, 'Dante's' rainbands still affect many parts of Luzon. Metro Manila shall expect isolated rains, and thunderstorms," said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Chris Perez.
"Dante" was last seen 205 km. west northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, or 190 km west southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur. It is moving northwestward at 35 kph.
The TS maintained its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
It is expected to further weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) by Saturday, before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Perez said.
Meanwhile, Perez said there is an LPA inside PAR, and it was last tracked 850 km. east of Virac, Catanduanes.
"Currently, the LPA has no direct effect on any part of the country," he said.
Gale warning is in effect over the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon. Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts over these waters.
Moderate to rough seas will prevail over the western seaboard of northern Luzon. PAGASA advised mariners of small seacrafts to take precautionary measures when venturing out to the sea. (PNA)
