CEBU CITY – The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will, for the first time, showcase cars as it hosts the 10th edition of the "Bumper to Bumper (B2B)" event in Cebu.

In a statement, the GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) said the event slated on Saturday and Sunday (June 5-6) at the MCIA car park is considered as the longest-running and the biggest outdoor car show in Asia.

It said the activity will find creative ways to maximize the available spaces at the airport, while also hosting the first airport drive-in and ride-in movie show in the country.

The B2B back to back with the first-ever Live Moore (Mactan Off-road & Overlanding Expo) will feature the best automotive mods and allow car clubs and enthusiasts to show off their passion for automobile creations.

“We are excited to host the hottest car and lifestyle community activity of the year in our very own iconic airport, arguably one of the most beautiful airports in the country. As a leading integrated engineering company in the Philippines, we are excited to see and showcase the Filipino ingenuity in automobile engineering, while providing guests with new activities this year,” GMCAC president Louie Ferrer said.

The event will be bannered by the two-division competition for cars and off-road vehicles, wherein various car clubs and enthusiasts will vie for the best mods in the pro and street categories.

Aside from the annual car show competition, the activity will also host a digital party for modern car enthusiasts who choose to stay home amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, food strips that showcase the best tasting delicacies in Cebu, stunning 4x4 displays, and a car meet.

The longest-running outdoor car show and lifestyle event in Asia has also been held in other key cities in the country such as Baguio, Batangas, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Laguna, La Union, Pampanga, and Pangasinan.

It previously attracted a crowd of 70,000 car enthusiasts and spectators.

The airport management said AirAsia, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, and Phoenix Fuels co-presented the event while many companies supported its staging including the launching on Thursday. (PNA)
