DOH-9 gets 2K more Sinovac doses

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Health (DOH)-Zamboanga Peninsula Center for Health Development (CHD) has received Friday another shipment of vaccines from the central office in Manila.

Dr. Cheryl Sarmiento, DOH regional office’s local health support division officer-in-charge, said the 11th vaccine shipment that arrived in the region consisted of 2,000 Sinovac doses.

Sarmiento said it is intended for the remaining eligible population who fall under the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups.

The A1 priority group is composed of healthcare workers and front-liners while the A2 the senior citizens and the A3 are persons with comorbidities.

Since March 5, the DOH regional office has already received a total of 197,700 doses of vaccines from the agency’s central office.

Of the total, 133,400 doses are Sinovac vaccines, 62,800 AstraZeneca, and 1,500 Sputnik V vaccines.

Meanwhile, Sarmiento encouraged the public to get vaccinated as an extra layer of protection against Covid-19.

She also advised the public to rely on information from the government to be properly guided on the Covid-19 vaccination program. (PNA)
