P2.4-M marijuana bricks seized, 2 suspects nabbed in Tarlac

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Some PHP2.4 million worth of dried marijuana bricks were seized from two drug suspects during an operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Tarlac City, Tarlac on Sunday night.

PDEA Central Luzon Director Christian O. Frivaldo said on Monday the two arrested suspects were identified as Julius Castro, 24, a resident of Hilario St., Barangay Ligtasan and John David Tapar, 28, of 3712 Karina St., Barangay San Sebastian, both in Tarlac City.

Frivaldo said PDEA agents secured a drug deal with the suspects and immediately collared them after transaction was completed.

He said the operation yielded 20 bricks of suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing some 20 kilograms with an estimated street value of PHP2.4 million, one cellphone, buy-bust money, and a Ford Ranger vehicle.

Frivaldo said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the arrested suspects. (PNA)
