MANILA – A total of 11,164,036 free rides have been provided to health care workers and other authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) by public utility vehicles (PUV) under the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) Service Contracting Program (SCP).

In a Facebook post on Monday, the LTFRB said the figure was recorded from the start of the program on March 29 up to present.

It said the free rides for medical workers and APOR are not just in the National Capital Region but available nationwide.

“Patuloy ang pag-arangkada ng libreng sakay sa NCR at sa buong bansa sa ilalim ng SCP bilang tugon sa kautusan ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade na libreng tulungan ang ating mga essential workers (Free rides in NCR and the whole country continues under the SCP in response to Tugade’s order to free assistance to essential workers),” the LTFRB said.

It said that PUV drivers and operators who joined the program from May 1, 2021 until June 15 will be given a one-time incentive of PHP20,000, in addition to a PHP7,000 weekly incentive for drivers who log in to the program’s mobile application five days a week.

Last week, the LTFRB held another general registration and orientation activity for PUV drivers and operators who wish to join the SCP.

PUV drivers and operators whose routes are currently active and are interested in the program may inquire with the LTFRB by reaching out to their official Facebook page or call the LTFRB Program Implementing Unit Office at (02) 8529 – 7111 local 845 or at the LTFRB 24/7 hotline 1342. (PNA)
