DAVAO CITY – Two offices of the city government of Mati are temporarily closed due to rising coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections.
Ben Jason Tesiorna, Mati City Information Office head, said the City Assessor’s Office (CAO) inside the City Hall complex and City Health Office (CHO) had to be shut down.
“There are five cases in the Assessor’s office while there are four in the CHO,” he told the Philippine News Agency in an interview on Monday.
CAO had been locked down since June 7 while the CHO will be closed only on Monday for disinfection.
The CAO has not yet decided on when it will resume operations while the CHO is definitely reopening on Tuesday.
As of June 13, Mati has 87 active Covid-19 cases
"We continue to ask for everyone's cooperation in the fight against Covid-19. We are not on a lockdown! But we appeal to the public to only go out of their homes when necessary. And if you go out, always observe the minimum health standards,” the city government said in a statement.
Mayor Michelle Rabat said services at the rest of the city government continue.
The temporary closure is important not only to protect the employees but the general public as well, she said in a statement.
“Measures are in place to ensure the continued delivery of services to the people amidst the rising cases of Covid-19 in the city,” Rabat said. (PNA)
