MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday reported that it has cleared over 14 million doses of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) since the government started receiving and procuring these in February.

In a Laging Handa briefing, Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said they have so far released 14,214,000 doses since the vaccines started arriving several months ago.

“Nine million of them are Sinovac, 2,556,000 doses are AstraZeneca, from Pfizer/Biotech, 2,478,000 and 180,000 Sputnik V,” he said.

He added that 210,600 doses arrived in Cebu.

At the same time, Guerrero assured the speedy release of the most sought-after importations in this time of crisis, including personal protective equipment (PPE), other medical supplies, and Covid-19 vaccines.

He added that such shipments have been pre-cleared at the Covid-19 One-Stop-Shop of BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

“Upon arrival, the vaccines are immediately transported to the storage facilities or to their destinations, without problems, without delays,” Guerrero said.

Aside from NAIA, the bureau also established One-Stop-Stop offices in Cebu and Davao international airports.

So far, the country has received both donated and procured vaccines from China, United States, Russia and the United Kingdom. (PNA)
