MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday asked for support and cooperation from various advocacy groups and force multipliers in gaining the trust and confidence of the people in the men in uniform.

Eleazar, in his message as he administered the oath-taking ceremony of the National Coalition of Lingkod Bayan Advocacy Groups and Force Multipliers at the Victory Church Building in Barangay Sumapa here, cited the vital support of these sectors in their deliverance of services to the people.

“We cannot succeed in our work if we cannot get your support and cooperation. And that's what we're asking for help from various advocacy groups and force multipliers. You will serve as a conduit of our service to our countrymen,” he said.

Eleazar and Governor Daniel Fernando, along with members of the group, signed a pledge of support to government programs against criminality and terrorism.

During his visit to the city, the PNP chief and Fernando also led the distribution of grocery packs under the PNP's "BARANGAYanihan Help and Food Bank" project to some Bulakenyos who are affected by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyong tulong at suporta sa ating kapulisan. Marami pong salamat sa inyo at kayo ang nagbibigay inspirasyon sa amin (I would like to thank you for your help and support to our police force. Thank you very much and you are the ones giving us inspiration),” Eleazar said. “Because we believe through your effort and through our collaboration, we can get the trust and confidence of the people. And only through their trust and confidence and respect, can we get the help, cooperation, and support of the people.”

He also said during an interview since he assumed command of the PNP, he has laid down the Intensified Cleanliness Policy which aims to correct minor problems in the police force such as the dirty surroundings in some precincts and police stations.

Eleazar made a surprise visit to the Malolos City Police Station, during which he said, “I am glad to see that police precinct in this city is clean and orderly because the cleanliness of the surroundings of the Malolos station is also an indication of the clean service of our police officer".

He said the cleanliness policy also aims to instill discipline among police officers and officials.

He, together with Maj. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, head of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations, Presidential Task Force on Media Security Executive Director, Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco, and Fernando appeared in the "Rektang Konek: Aksyon Agad", a multi-media interactive program of the PNP that enhances the image-building capability program of different government agencies by providing quick public services to the Filipino community, both local and abroad.

The group also proceeded to Meycauayan City and met with industrial leaders of Bulacan hosted by Rep. Henry Villarica and Mayor Linabelle Ruth Villarica. (PNA)
