BACOLOD CITY – The City of Bacolod has administered a total of 53,716 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines among its residents from March 5 to June 21, data released by the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) on Tuesday showed.

The latest figures include 42,894 shots given as the first dose and 10,822, as the second dose.

“We are encouraged because vaccine acceptance is also improving among our people,” Mayor Evelio Leonardia said in a statement.

The city government has set up 26 vaccination sites in identified barangays and clustered areas from June 14 to June 17, 2021, and from June 21 to 23, 2021 for the rollout of 17,000 additional doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac jabs deployed by the national government here on June 5 and 8.

Vaccinations are also being held at SMX Convention Center in SM City Bacolod and Ayala Malls Capitol Central from Mondays to Fridays.

Currently, the vaccination rollout in Bacolod covers residents belonging to the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups, which include front-line health care workers, senior citizens, and adults with comorbidities, respectively.

Leonardia said Bacolod will receive next an additional batch of 15,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines.

“We thank Department of Health-Western Visayas Regional Director Emilia Monicimpo for responding to our continuing requests for more vaccines. This is good news because this will accelerate the momentum of our vaccination program,” he added.

The mayor said the city’s dedicated vaccination teams will ensure that Bacolod will implement the vaccination of the new doses the soonest in various vaccination centers. (PNA)
