DAVAO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry in Region 11 (DTI-11) will hold a Presyo Diskwento Caravan (PDC) from June 25 to 26 to offer basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) at discounted prices.

In a statement Wednesday, DTI-11 director Maria Belenda Ambi extended the agency’s appreciation to its partners' commitment as well as the BNPC manufacturers’ continuous support to the PDC program.

She also urged the consumers to visit the two-day in-store PDC to be held at Victoria Plaza in Bajada district, here.

In partnership with the New City Commercial Center (NCCC), the event will bring suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors together to make BNPCs available at more affordable prices, giving consumers the best value for their money.

“We are glad that they have been with us all these years. We couldn’t have sustained our dedication to providing the public with various products at discounted prices, or even below the suggested retail prices (SRPs), especially during this pandemic, without their commitment and support,” Ambi added.

The PDC is an initiative of the DTI aimed at providing access to reasonably-priced quality products to the consuming public, particularly those badly affected by the pandemic.

“With such a scenario, many consumers have been left with a meager budget for their basic needs. Together with the retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors of BNPCs, the agency is able to conduct it regularly. This year, DTI-11 is expected to hold at least eight PDCs throughout the region,” she added.

The DTI-11 and NCCC assured the public that the minimum public health standards will strictly be observed during the Presyo Diskwento Caravan. “Amid the global pandemic, the DTI also helps improve the economy by intensifying our assistance to the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

With the PDC, they can earn as well, which could be a way for them to cope up in these trying times,” Ambi added. (PNA)
