9 nabbed, P789-K shabu seized in Zambo Peninsula

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Nine people, including a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) official and two suspected big-time pushers, were arrested while some PHP789,872 worth of illegal drugs were seized in a series of anti-drug operations during the past two days in the Zamboanga Peninsula region, the police reported Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, said Ar-Jay Albina, 25, the SK councilor in Barangay Gatas of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, was arrested together with Marmi Magallanes, 31, a cashier, in an anti-drug operation around 9:40 p.m. Monday in Purok Santan, Barangay Sta. Maria.

The two yielded some PHP6,120 worth of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets and PHP500 marked money.

The two suspected big-time drug peddlers identified as Alvin Kamsusi, 33, and Arjin Susia, 33, were arrested by operatives of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 5 in an anti-drug operation around 6:50 p.m. Monday at a motel in Barangay Camino Nuevo.

Recovered from the duo were some 110 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP748,000, two smartphones, PHP500 marked money, a weighing scale, a pouch, and a sling bag.

The other arrested suspects were Rhoda Rubio, 22; Alrasdy Ajahum, 27; Ryan Galvez, 36; Kabznie Lazalle, 21; and Abedin Merham, 32.

Merham, a former overseas Filipino worker, was arrested while in possession of some PHP612 worth of suspected shabu, a cellular phone and PHP500 marked money in a buy-bust around 4:40 p.m. Monday in Purok Malipayon, Barangay Bulanit, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, operatives of the ZCPO’s Station 11 arrested Rubio, Ajahum, and Galvez in a buy-bust around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Baliwasan.

Seized from them were some 4.8 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP32,640, a coin purse, and PHP300 marked money.

Another team from ZCPO’s Station 11 seized from Lazalle some PHP2,500 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust around 2 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Mariki.

The suspects will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
