MANILA – Stakeholders in the electric vehicle industry will focus their talks on accelerating the adoption of e-vehicles in the local transport in an upcoming summit.

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), together with Manila Electric Company and in partnership with the Department of Energy, will hold the 9th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit from August 26 to 27, 2021 online.

With the theme “Accelerating the Switch to Electro-Mobility in the Philippines”, the event aims to get the reaffirmation of government agencies in pushing transition for a sustainable transport system.

The summit also targets to hear both from public and private sectors new developments to support the growth of the local e-vehicle industry.

EVAP president Edmund Araga said speakers from the government side are also expected to discuss policies and incentive programs in building charging infrastructure.

Araga said a memorandum of agreement will also be signed to strengthen industry cooperation within Asean under an Electric Vehicle Program.

“We need to step up our efforts to achieve our goals for rapid e-vehicle deployment, and to do this, government and private sectors need to collectively reaffirm their commitment to do so,” he added. (PNA)
