Parlade lauds troops for successful ops vs. Reds in CamSur

MANILA – Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) chief, Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Parlade, Jr., lauded the military units in Sagñay, Camarines Sur for their successful operation on Monday morning that resulted in the neutralization of two communist terrorists and recovery of 12 high-powered firearms.

"My congratulations to the troops of 1st Lt. James Limos and the 83rd IB (Infantry Battalion) , 902nd Bde (Brigade), 9th ID (Infantry Division),  PA (Philippine Army) for a well-executed mission in Sagñay, Camarines Sur which resulted to two body count, and the recovery of 12 HPFAs (high-powered firearms – two M-14s, four-M-653s, and six M-16 rifles) this morning 19 July 2021," Parlade said in a statement on Monday night.

The clash between Army soldiers, supported by the police, and an estimated 20 communist terrorists took place around 10:45 a.m. in Barangay Bongalon, Sagñay, Camarines Sur.

He said the successful mission should emphasize the fact that plans are only as good as its execution.

"This successful operation should send the message to the CPP-NPA-NDF (Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front) terrorists that their days are truly numbered. Keep on pressing," he added.

The CPP-NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

"Congratulations also to all commanders and staff responsible for the supervision and support. This is a perfect gift for my retirement, I can't ask for anything else. Mabuhay Team JTF Bicolandia," Parlade said.

The SOLCOM chief is scheduled to retire on July 26 after reaching the mandatory military retirement age of 56. (PNA)
