MANILA – A total of 21,210,129 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine have been administered nationwide, with last week's daily average hitting 523,018, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday.

In an online briefing, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said of this number, 9,369,625 people have been fully vaccinated while 11,840,504 have received their first dose as of August 2.

“We have a daily average jab of 523,018 for July 26 to August 1 and we recall on July 27, the highest recorded number of jabs per day is 659,029,” Cabotaje said.

DOH data show that among the partially vaccinated individuals, more than 1.59 million are healthcare workers (HCWs), 2.89 million are senior citizens, 3.79 million are persons with comorbidities, 2.67 million are essential workers, 398,966 are outbound overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and family members of HCWs and 482,239 are indigents.

Out of the fully vaccinated individuals, more than 1.38 million are HCWs, 2.69 million are senior citizens, 3.42 million are persons with comorbidities, 1.35 million are essential workers, 198,471 are outbound OFWs and family members of HCWs and 309,024 are indigents.

The weekly accomplishment reached 3,694,753 in at least 4,468 vaccination sites nationwide, the DOH said.

About 28,381,930 of the total 34,275,740 vaccines have been deployed. Meanwhile, about 13,412,196 doses of vaccines are left to be administered.

The country targets to vaccinate 70,851,828 this year to achieve population protection.

As Covid-19 vaccines are generally given in two separate doses per person, the count of administered vaccines does not mean that the same number of people have been vaccinated.

In the Philippines, the vaccines used are Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sputnik and the single-shot Janssen. (PNA)
