MANILA - The province of Bataan has been included in the high-risk areas list and will be under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting Sunday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced the new quarantine classification on Saturday following a spike in Covid-19 cases in the province in the past weeks.
"President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force to place Bataan under enhanced community quarantine beginning Aug. 8 until Aug. 22, 2021," Roque said in a press statement.
Bataan was initially under modified ECQ until Aug. 15.
As of Aug. 6, Bataan has 1,974 active Covid-19 cases out of the 14,643 total confirmed infections.
There have been 12,135 recoveries and 543 deaths.
Of the total cases, Mariveles has 1,097 cases, Balanga City 230, Limay 169, Dinalupihan 131, Orion 110, Orani 77, Abucay 50, Pilar 41, Samal 35, Bagac 30, Hermosa 34, and Morong 11.
The province also has 16 cases of the Delta variant. (PNA)
