CAMP S.K. PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Police authorities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have arrested a suspected subleader of the Dawlah Islamiya (DI) terror group operating at the border of Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat provinces.
Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of Police Regional Office – BARMM, identified the suspect on Friday as Kalid Andalani Kalaing, alias Commander Kalid, of Barangay Molon, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.
“Kalid was arrested around 1:30 pm. Thursday at a checkpoint in Barangay Labu-Labu, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao,” Ugale told reporters here in an interview.
He said the suspect is wanted by a Sultan Kudarat court for carnapping with homicide.
Ugale added that police intelligence information showed that the suspect was a DI subleader under the Maguid terror group.
He said the Maguindanao police received a tip from Sultan Kudarat provincial police office about Kalid traveling from Cotabato City to Isulan, Sultan Kudarat onboard a white pick-up truck, prompting them to alert their police field units.
After his arrest, the suspect was turned over to the Sultan Kudarat provincial police office. (PNA)
