MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines' (AFP) Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) and its various stakeholders have so far distributed 12,000 hot meals to Metro Manila residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

In a statement Thursday night, JTF-NCR public affairs office chief, Capt. Prad Adoptante said the hot meals distribution was conducted with the help of the AFP Logistics Support Command, 7th Civil Relations Group, and 11th Civil-Military Operations Battalion.

Other groups who joined the initiative were Operation Blessing Inc., Fraternal Order of Eagles, the National Capital Region Police Office, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, and other non-government organizations.

Adoptante said the project, which started on Aug. 9, is part of the AFP’s “Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko” program which aims to mitigate the effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Metro Manila is under ECQ from Aug. 6 to 20 to stop further spread of the Covid-19, especially the highly transmissible Delta variant. (PNA)
