Moderna jabs administered to 420 QC senior citizens

MANILA – Barangay Pasong Tamo senior citizens in Quezon City got their long-awaited first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine on Sunday.

Four hundred twenty received the American-made Moderna jab at Pasong Tamo Elementary School.

Some arrived at the campus as early as 5 a.m., or three hours ahead of the start of vaccination.

The line was orderly and no problems were reported

After filling up information sheets, the elderly had their blood pressure taken.

Their second dose will be on Sept. 12.

Public school buildings are being used as vaccination sites as face-to-face classes are still prohibited.

Over 15 million individuals nationwide have received at least the first dose of the vaccine as of Aug. 11.

In Quezon City, 1,963,922 doses have been administered as of Aug. 15. Of the total, 670,929 are second doses, or 41.76 of the city's 1.7 million target population.

The city is still dealing with 6,972 active Covid-19 cases, also as of Sunday. (PNA)
