Automotive vehicle sales in July reached 21,498 units from 20,542 units in the same month last year.

Passenger cars recorded a double-digit growth of 15.3 percent, with sales reaching 7,102 units in the previous month from 6,157 units a year ago.

“The industry welcomed the year-on-year growth of 4.7 percent but anticipates a decline in sales this month with the reimposition of ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) in NCR (National Capital Region), among other high-risk areas,” CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez said in a statement.

Combined sales of CAMPI and TMA declined by 4.7 percent from 22,550 units in June 2021.

For the January to July 2021 period, industry sales rose 46.1 percent to 154,265 units from 105,583 units in the same period of 2020.

Passenger car sales jumped by 64.6 percent to 49,508 units in the first seven months of the year from 30,069 units sold a year ago.

Sales of commercial vehicles reached 104,757 units, increasing by 38.7 percent from 75,514 units in January to July period last year.

Toyota Motors Philippines Corp. still has the largest share of the market at 48.31 percent, followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. with 14.59 percent market share, Suzuki Phils. with 7.54 percent market share, Ford Motor Company Phils. with 7.42 percent market share, and Nissan Philippines with 6.75 percent market share.
