In a report on Friday, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) said personnel from San Miguel Police Station conducted an operation Thursday afternoon upon receiving reports on the transport of illegally gathered forest products.

“A checkpoint was immediately set up in Purok 4, Barangay Tina San Miguel that led to the arrest of three personalities and the seizure of the illegally-sawn Toog lumber products, and the wing van truck used for the transport of the contrabands,” the SDSPPO report said.

The arrested suspects were identified as Jessie Timtim Carinal, 53, a truck driver of Niyog 3, Bacoor, Cavite; Jerry Cañete Morales, 54, of Purok Malipayon, Mangugpo West, Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and Demerson Caberte Notarte, 30, of Barangay Ligas II, Molina Blvd., Bacoor, Cavite.
