MANILA – Going to key air and land transportation hubs in Metro Manila is now easier after the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) partnered with UBE Express Inc. (UBEx) for direct point-to-point (P2P) connections to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

In a statement on Tuesday, the LRMC -- the operator and maintenance provider of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) -- said a memorandum of agreement has been signed with UBEx creating a new P2P route that will include the LRT-1 EDSA Station, NAIA Terminals 1-3, PITX, SM Mall of Asia, and Ayala Malls Manila Bay beginning Wednesday (Sept. 1).

It noted that the designated pickup and drop-off points of the P2P buses are located at the southbound entrance of LRT-1 EDSA Station.

“Through this partnership, commuters who would normally need to take several modes of transport to reach their destinations now have the option to travel faster by taking the train and 24-seater premium airport bus service at an affordable cost,” the LRMC said.

The first trip for the new route, it said, begins at 6 a.m. daily and the last trip at 7 p.m., with a bus arriving in between every 30 minutes.

“Passengers can also conveniently pay for both LRT-1 and premium bus rides using a beep card,” the LRMC said.

As a “special promotional offer,” it said the minimum fare for the new P2P service will start at PHP25 beginning September 1 until October 1, 2021 -- with the minimum fare to change to PHP50 after this period.

UBEx is a privately-owned transportation company that provides P2P bus services -- the first P2P bus company in Metro Manila.

The company also provides tarmac shuttle services for various airlines to transport passengers within the airport facility. (PNA
