ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government has rolled out the Special Risk Allowance (SRA) payout to health workers as mandated by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said Friday about 200 recipients identified by the City Health Office have received their SRA.
Salazar said those who already received the allowance are under the health districts of Guiwan, Tetuan, Talon-Talon, Tumaga, Sta. Maria, and Sta. Catalina.
Some of the recipients, she said, received a maximum of PHP25,000 and a minimum of PHP15,000 each, depending on the number of workdays.
The city government received PHP24,105,804.78 from the Department of Health (DOH) for the SRA payout to identified beneficiaries.
She added that after the funds download from the DOH in July, the city government immediately processed the necessary documents for the eventual release of the benefits, subject to the guidelines of the health department.
Barangay health workers, nutrition scholars, midwives, physicians, and nurses, who served as vaccinators, will also receive their allowances.
Duterte, in a recent nationwide address, said the continuing State of Public Health Emergency warrants the further grant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) SRA to recognize the heroic and invaluable contributions of the health workers throughout the country, who bravely and unselfishly risk their lives and health by being at the forefront of the national efforts to respond to the pandemic.
