Bulacan mayor in quarantine following positive Covid-19 test

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Mayor Cipriano Violago Jr. of San Rafael this province tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019  (Covid-19) on Sunday.
 
In his official post on social media on Monday, Violago said he decided to undergo a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test after experiencing flu-like symptoms.
 
Kaya ngayon, akin pong ipinapaalam sa inyong lahat na ako ay nag-positibo sa sakit na Covid-19. Ako po ay naka-quarantine na mula noong nagsimula ang aking sintomas at patuloy ang aking koordinasyon sa ating Municipal Health Office. (So now, I am informing all that I was positive for Covid-19. I have been quarantined since I started having symptoms and continuously coordinating with our Municipal Health Office),” the 60-year-old mayor said.
 
Violago said he is now in a good condition and “with the guidance of God, we will be able to overcome the dreaded disease.”
 
“I ask for your continued prayers as well for all our kababayans (townmates) who are fighting Covid-19 today,” he added.
 
He also assured the municipal government of San Rafael will carry on its duty to the people, and the operations of the local government will continue.
 
Violago is the seventh mayor in Bulacan that contracted the disease.
 
Others who got infected and recovered were mayors Ferdie Estrella of Baliuag, Vergel Meneses of Bulakan, Eladio Gonzales Jr. of Balagtas, Jose Santiago of Bocaue, Carla Galvez-Tan of San Ildefonso, and Russel Pleyto of Sta. Maria.
 
Bulacan 1st District Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado, 4th District Rep. Henry Villarica, and Gov. Daniel Fernando also contracted the virus and recovered. (PNA)
