BUTUAN CITY – A total of 76 villages here were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from Sept. 7 to 22, despite the city's shift to general community quarantine with heightened restrictions (GCQ-HR) starting Wednesday.

The City Information Office, in an advisory on Tuesday, said the measure was approved on Monday by the Regional Task Force for Covid-19 One Caraga Shield.

The MECQ was based on the recent surge of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in these barangays.

This city has a total number of 86 barangays.

Mayor Ronnie Vicente Lagnada also issued Executive Order No. 41 (EO 41) on Monday which provides for some guidelines for residents in MECQ and GCQ areas.

“EO 41 provides common guidelines for barangays placed under MECQ and GCQ with HR,” the information office said.

Among the common guidelines include the imposition of curfew hours from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.; liquor ban from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.; and the continued use of color-coded quarantine pass.

Travelers from outside the Caraga Region will be required to present negative results of either reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or rapid antigen tests.

The domestic vaccination card of travelers may also be presented upon entry to the city, the information office said.

As of Monday, the city has a total number of 8,526 Covid-19 cases with 7,428 recoveries, 868 active cases, and 230 deaths. (PNA)
