Caraga Covid-19 recoveries top 27K

BUTUAN CITY – The number of patients who recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the Caraga Region reached 27,401, with 274 new survivors reported on Thursday.

In its Covid-19 bulletin, the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) said this accounts for 82.5 percent of a total of 33,229 infections since the start of the pandemic.

Some 483 new infections were also recorded.

“Caraga Region has a remaining 4,756 active Covid-19 cases as of Thursday,” the DOH-13 said.

Another 29 fatalities, meanwhile, raised the region's Covid-19 death toll to 1,072.

Agusan del Sur topped the number of new cases with 181, followed by Surigao del Sur with 81; Surigao del Norte, 60; Agusan del Norte, 13; and the Province of Dinagat Islands with one case.

Among the cities in the region, a total of 105 new infections were recorded in Butuan, 17 in Surigao, 11 in Bayugan, 11 in Tandag, two in Cabadbaran, and one in Bislig.

Due to a continued surge in infections, the Regional Task Force for Covid-19 One Caraga Shield to place 76 barangays in Butuan City under modified enhanced community quarantine from Sept. 7 to 22.

The rest of the barangays here will be under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions based on the latest quarantine classifications issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. (PNA)
