MANILA – Developers can now avail of seamless permitting and license processing of housing projects as fast as three to six months, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo del Rosario said Thursday.

Del Rosario said the DHSUD has partnered with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to streamline transactions related to urban housing and human settlements projects.

"Kaya ngayon nagkaroon kami ng joint memorandum circular na ito pinangunahan ng ARTA, pinatawag iyong labing isang government agencies na magkaroon kami ng convergence sa aming ginawa para mapabilis natin ang proseso (That's why we issued a joint memorandum circular led by the ARTA, we met with 11 government agencies to have a convergence with our mandates to fast-track our processes)," he said in a virtual Laging Handa press briefing.

He said the developers usually have to deal separately with the national government agencies and local government units (LGUs) to get permits, licenses, and clearances to push through a housing project.

"We can fast track the processing of all documents by 52 percent. So mahigit sa kalahati ang nabawas natin ngayon – kung sabihin natin (So it was reduced more than half now--so if we say) before it takes about 6 months to 1 year eh, definitely this time mapabilis natin to 3 months to 6 months ang permitting process (we can hasten the permitting process from three months up to six months)," he said.

The DSHUD earlier created a sub-technical working group to revisit housing laws and policies that will improve further the transaction for economic and socialized housing projects in urban and rural areas. (PNA)
