'Jolina' leaves P286-M agri, infra damage

MANILA – Typhoon Jolina has so far left a total of PHP286,772,948 worth of damage to agriculture and infrastructure as it swept through parts of Luzon and the Visayas.

In its update as of 8 a.m. Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said damage to agriculture was estimated at PHP256,097,695 in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, infrastructure damage was placed at PHP30,675,253 in Mimaropa, Bicol, and Western Visayas.

A total of 28,444 families or 109,680 individuals have so far been affected by the typhoon in 617 villages in Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Soccsksargen, and the National Capital Region.

Out of this number, 2,580 families or 9,797 persons are staying in 245 evacuation centers.

One was confirmed dead along with 16 injured and four missing.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said reports of 13 deaths, four injuries and three missing are still undergoing validation.

Houses damaged were placed at 6,423 in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas.

Of these, 6,122 were reported as partially damaged and 301 as totally damaged. (PNA)
