PH logs over 9K new Covid-19 recoveries

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,067 new recoveries from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Friday, bringing the country’s total to 1,969,401 or 90.3 percent of all recorded cases.

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the agency also logged 17,964 new cases, slightly lower than Thursday’s record-high 22,820 cases since the start of the pandemic last year.

To date, there are 175,470 active cases of Covid-19 in the country, or 8 percent of all known recorded infections.

Of the active cases, the majority at 87.8 percent have mild symptoms, followed by the asymptomatic at 7.8 percent, those with moderate symptoms at 2.48 percent, those with severe symptoms at 1.3 percent, and those in critical condition at 0.6 percent.

Another 168 new deaths were also recorded, with the country’s total deaths at 34,899 or 1.60 percent of all recorded cases.

Based on the latest data, a total of Covid-19 76,562 tests were administered on Wednesday, with 28.9 percent found positive for the disease.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), there are currently 1,400 beds at intensive care units (ICU) at 73 percent occupancy, 4,600 isolation beds at 66 percent occupancy, 4,400 ward beds at 73 percent occupancy, and 63 percent of 1,200 ventilators are in use.

In the whole country, there are 4,200 ICU beds at 75 percent occupancy, 20,700 isolation beds at 69 percent occupancy, 15,800 ward beds at 73 percent occupancy, and 57 percent of 3,300 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
