CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The local government of Tangub City, Misamis Occidental on Friday declared a "No Movement Saturdays" after coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases reached a record-high of 120 cases in a single day.

Mayor Jennifer Tan, in a live-streamed video via Facebook, announced the signing of Executive Order (EO) 234, series of 2021, that takes effect starting at 3 a.m. on September 11.

The EO mandates the public to cease from going outside their residences and avoid non-essential gatherings, with the exception of those who will go out to buy food and medicine, medical front-liners, and those who are obliged to work on Saturdays like emergency responders.

Anyone defying the order will be fined PHP1,000 and one-day jail time for the first offense; PHP2,000 and three-day jail time for a second offense; and PHP5,000 and 10-day jail time for the third offense.

Religious activities are also temporarily prohibited.

Tan said public transportation may still operate under the rules of the provincial government of Misamis Occidental, but the number of vehicles plying the road will be reduced.

As of September 9, the city recorded 102 active cases with 538 recoveries and 23 deaths. The cumulative total since 2020 has reached 663 cases.

New quarantine facility

The city government earlier inaugurated a new Covid-19 quarantine facility called Project Anchorage located in Barangay Maloro.

The 35-bed capacity isolation facility is in front of the Panguil Bay that caters to asymptomatic Covid-19 patients.

There are nine rooms intended for couples or families while the rest are 26 single rooms with comfortable beds, a clean and tiled comfort room, an air-conditioning unit, water, kettle, water dispenser, radio monitor, Cable TV, and Wi-Fi.

Tan said Anchorage is a resort hotel concept because it is near the beach with the ambiance of being on vacation or "staycation”.

"Mental health is very important in the success rate of survival of Covid-19,” she said.

Project Anchorage also has repurposed container vans as admission, donning, swabbing, and doffing areas, storage areas, including a stock room with its own laundry room, and function area where clients can do physical exercises. (PNA)
