MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – The placing of this town under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) on September 15-28 is meant to curb the increasing cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here.
In Executive Order (EO) 44 issued Tuesday evening, Mayor Mary Marilyn Lambino said the local government unit was compelled to appeal to the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force addressing Covid-19 to place the municipality under MECQ to prevent the total collapse of the municipality’s health care system.
The EO also provided the guidelines for the town’s new quarantine status from general community quarantine with heightened restriction status.
“The movement of all persons shall be limited to accessing goods and services from permitted establishments, for work in such establishments, or such other activities allowed,” Lambino stated in the EO.
Any person below 18 years old, those who are more than 65 years old, those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity, or other health risks, and pregnant women shall be required to remain in their respective residences at all times, except for obtaining essential goods and services permitted, she added.
Entertainment venues, recreational venues, amusement parks or theme parks, outdoor sports courts or venues, fitness studios, gyms, spas or other indoor leisure centers, swimming pools, casinos, cockpits, indoor visitor or tourist attractions, outdoor tourist attractions, venues for meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and personal care services are prohibited.
Indoor dine-in services of food preparation establishments, such as commissaries, restaurants, and eateries, are prohibited. However, al fresco dining shall be allowed up to 30 percent maximum of its venue capacity, as well as take out.
Gatherings outside of residences and at residences with any person outside of one’s immediate household are prohibited. However, gatherings that are essential for the provision of health services, government services, or authorized humanitarian activities are allowed.
Individual outdoor exercises, such as outdoor walks, jogging, running, or biking, are allowed within the general area of residence, such as barangay, village, purok, or subdivision, provided that the minimum public health standards and precautions are observed.
As of Wednesday morning, Mangaldan has a total of 1,050 cases since the start of the pandemic, active cases now at 153; recoveries, 817; deaths, 88; and eight reinfections. (PNA)
