MANILA – The nation's overall tally of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients who beat the disease have reached 2,193,700 as 21,974 new recoveries were recorded as of Tuesday.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the figure is equivalent to a 91.3-percent recovery rate from a total of 2,401,916 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

The DOH also tallied 16,361 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 171,142 or 7.1 percent of all cases.

Of the active cases, 92.4 percent are mild, 2.8 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, 2.69 percent are moderate, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.

Also logged were 140 new fatalities, raising the death toll to 37,074 or 1.54 percent of the total cases.

The DOH said 61 duplicates were removed from the total case count as 46 of those were actually recoveries.

Meanwhile, 60 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

According to DOH data on September 19, about 27 percent of 48,262 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

All laboratories were operational on September 19 and four laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 4 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.4 percent of samples tested and 0.3 percent of positive individuals.

“The relatively low cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Sunday, September 19,” the DOH said.

To date, 78 percent of 4,400 intensive care unit beds, 67 percent of 20,900 isolation beds, 73 percent of 15,500 ward beds, and 58 percent of 3,300 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use nationwide.

In Metro Manila, 78 percent of 1,600 intensive care unit beds, 63 percent of 4,500 isolation beds, 73 percent of 4,300 ward beds, and 64 percent of 1,100 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are being used. (PNA)
