MANILA – An official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday has recommended the wearing of the vaccination cards like IDs when going to public places.
At the Laging Handa media briefing, DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño, who was once a barangay captain himself, said he would propose an additional requirement of health protocols to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
“Ito na sana ang maging sakripisyo ng bawat Pilipinong nabakunahan. Kung ikaw ay bakunado na, paglabas mo ng bahay isuot mo na iyong vaccination card (This will hopefully be a sacrifice of every vaccinated Filipinos. If you are already vaccinated, once you go out your home, wear your vaccination card)," he said while he presented his own vaccination card being worn with a lanyard and an ID case.
The vaccination cards are issued by local government units (LGUs) to Filipinos once they received their first doses and serves a requirement to get their second doses.
Diño said it would be easy for the local enforcers or barangay watchmen to determine whether a person is vaccinated or not--when vaccination cards will be worn like IDs.
"Paglabas mo ng bahay hindi ka na maabala ng pulis, ng barangay, na tatanungin ka, nasaan ang vaccination card mo? Kung antimanong isasabit mo na sa iyong dibdib, di ba? (When you leave the house you won't be bothered by the police or the barangay, they won't ask you anymore: where is your vaccination card?--if you're already wearing it on your chest)," he said as he also pointed out the need to continue adhering minimum health standards such as wearing of face mask and physical distancing.
It will also be helpful for the restaurants that they won't anymore ask about the vaccination status of their customers, he added.
Several establishments and businesses have earlier agreed to give incentives to vaccinated individuals.
The new alert level system and granular lockdowns are currently being piloted in the National Capital Region (NCR).
