Over 8K indigents in Ilocos get Covid-19 vax

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Some 8,136 residents in the Ilocos Region under the A5 priority group or the indigent population have been inoculated with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines as of September 21.
 
In a statement issued on Thursday, John Paul Aquino, member of the Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region Immunization Coordinator, said of the total number, 7,725 have received their first dose while 411 have been fully immunized.
 
In Ilocos Norte, 4,028 indigent individuals have been inoculated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 392 have been fully immunized, 750 from Ilocos Sur have received the first dose, 1,629 in La Union got their first dose while 12 were fully vaccinated, and 1,318 in Pangasinan received the first dose while seven were fully vaccinated as of September 21.
 
“Overall, 1.4 percent received their first dose and 0.1 percent of the eligible group A5 is fully immunized,” Aquino said.
 
The eligible population in the region under A5 is 562,682.
 
The National Vaccination Operations Center Advisory 84 on the vaccination of priority group A nationwide now allows the vaccination of group A5. 
 
However, priority is still given to Groups A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities).
 
As of September 21, a total of 1.4 million Covid-19 vaccines were administered in the region.
 
A total of 971,643 Group A individuals received at least one dose, including the Janssen vaccine, while 638,679 Group A individuals already completed their vaccination.
 
“Overall, 45.61 percent of A1 to A5 were already vaccinated while 29.98 percent (had) already completed vaccination,” Aquino said. (PNA)
