CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – This city is one of the three local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon that were recognized as among the country’s most improved in terms of environmental health services.

The announcement was made through a digital conference hosted by the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday in time for the observance of World Environmental Health Day.

The two other LGUs are Tarlac City and the municipality of Talavera in Nueva Ecija.

The three were hailed as among this year’s Most Improved Local Government Unit in Environmental Health Services for giving priorities to environmental health that led to improvements in their water supply, sanitation services, food safety, governance and health promotion, and overall hygiene of the community.

Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, concurrent Director of Health Promotion and Communication Service and Disease Prevention and Control Bureau of the DOH, congratulated the winners for their vital contribution in the promotion of environmental health services.

“They have exerted efforts and investments in improving their environment health in terms of safe drinking water supply, sanitation, food safety, governance and health promotion so their constituents can live a healthier life,” she said in a statement.

The three LGU winners will receive a cash prize of PHP100,000 each to be used for their environmental health programs. (PNA)
