MANILA – The country has recorded 894 more individuals who recuperated from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the recovery count to 2,397,456 as of Saturday.

The Department of Health (DOH) also logged an additional 14,786 infections and 164 new fatalities, pushing the total active cases and death toll to 144,061 and 38,656, respectively.

The current positivity rate is at 22.1 percent, based on the 68,233 individuals tested on September 30.

The new infections raise to 2,580,173 the Philippines' number of confirmed Covid-19 cases since the pandemic started last year.

A total of 100 duplicates were removed from the case count while 91 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said 80.3 percent of the active cases have mild symptoms while 13.4 percent are asymptomatic, 0.8 percent are critical, 1.9 percent are severe, and 3.56 percent moderate.

Despite a decline in new infections, the utilization rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds nationwide remains high at 73 percent.

In Metro Manila, about 75 percent of the 1,500 ICU beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients are occupied.

The DOH also reported that at least 61 percent of the 21,000 isolation beds and 65 percent of the 15,800 ward beds across the country are in use. (PNA)
