MANILA – Tropical Depression (TD) Lannie will bring moderate to heavy rains over Palawan, including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Lannie was last tracked 90 kilometers northwest of Cuyo, Palawan or 70 kms. south southeast of Coron, also in Palawan.

Lannie packs maximum sustained winds of 45 km. per hour near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 has been hoisted over the southwestern portion of Romblon (Odiongan, Looc, Alcantara, Ferrol, Santa Fe and San Jose), the southern portion of Oriental Mindoro (Roxas, Mansalay and Bulalacao), the southern portion of Occidental Mindoro (Calintaan, Rizal, San Jose, Magsaysay), and the northern portion of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Dumaran, Araceli) including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

In the Visayas, TCWS No. 1 was also hoisted over Antique and the western portion of Aklan (Madalag, Malinao, Ibajay, Nabas, Malay, Buruanga)

These areas will experience strong breeze to near gale conditions and occasional gusts.

Light to moderate, with at times heavy rains are likely over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, and the rest of Mimaropa.

Continuous rains may cause scattered flooding and landslides, according to PAGASA.

Moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over the coastal waters of the country, especially in areas where TCWS has been hoisted and over the seaboards of northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised mariners to take precautionary measures and avoid navigating in these sea conditions which are risky for small seacrafts. (PNA)
