MANILA – No more tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) is hoisted over any part of the country, as Tropical Depression (TD) Lannie moved away from Palawan landmass, a weather forecaster said Tuesday noon.
Ariel Rojas of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Lannie" made a total of eight landfalls on Monday.
"It made its ninth landfall over Iloc Island, Linapacan, Palawan; and 10th landfall over El Nido, Palawan, earlier today,” Rojas added.
"Lannie" was last tracked 165 kms. west of Coron, Palawan, moving west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea.
The TD packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
Rojas said even if the TCWS has been lifted, occasionally gusts and gale-force wind may be experienced over extreme northern Luzon, and the coastal and upland areas of the Cordillera Administrative Region, mainland Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol region, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro region.
Gale warning is currently in effect over the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon.
PAGASA maintained that mariners should take precautionary measures, as moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over the rest of the coastal waters of the country. Such sea conditions are risky for those using small seacraft.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains will continue over Palawan including Calamian, Kalayaan, and Cuyo Islands.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains is also still likely experienced over Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol region, Western Visayas, and the rest of Mimaropa. (PNA)
