MANILA – The country's top cop on Wednesday has ordered a deeper investigation into the seven suspects who yielded close to PHP5.6 million worth of illegal drugs in separate operations in Manila.

"I am directing the MPD (Manila Police District) to further conduct an investigation into this to identify the suspects’ other possible cohorts and to find out if they are part of a bigger drug syndicate,” Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, said in a statement.

Eleazar, meanwhile, commended the police officers involved in these operations.

MPD members seized 835 grams of illegal drugs in two buy-bust operations in the city earlier this week.

Operatives from the MPD Station 14 in Quiapo arrested 67-year-old Nasfira Nassir Abdulla (alias Lastrifa) at a house along Marayag St. in Barangay 648, San Miguel on Monday.

Abdulla yielded a total of 735 grams of shabu worth PHP4.9 million.

On Tuesday, police officers from the MPD Station 7 seized 100 grams of shabu worth PHP680,000 from six drug suspects -- Jonathan Balingit, Esmelita Tumbagahan, Renalyn Silverio, Aldwin Castillo, Anna Punzal, and Mark Echalar -- in a buy-bust operation at the corner of Raxabago and Juan Luna Streets in Tondo.
