MANILA – The eastbound portion of North Avenue in Quezon City will soon be closed to traffic and is expected to reopen in June next year to make way for the construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7).

In an advisory on Friday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said a portion of North Avenue headed to Elliptical Road will be closed from Oct. 15, 2021 to June 1, 2022.

It said motorists entering Wildlife and Veterans Memorial Medical Center can still pass through North Avenue.

“Vehicles going Elliptical Road may take Quezon Avenue via Agham Road as an alternative route,” the MMDA said.

It noted that the closure of part of North Avenue would have “less impact on traffic” as it had been closed to motorists previously.

Meanwhile, several other roads in Metro Manila will be temporarily closed or partially passable while the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conducts road reblocking and repairs over the weekend.

These roads, it said, include España Boulevard (from Extramadura St. to M. Dela Fuente St.), C.P. Garcia Ave. after Maigting St. (third lane from the sidewalk) before Krus na Ligas (second lane from the sidewalk), and Epifanio Delos Santos Ave. (EDSA)-Tramo Flyover Aurora Blvd. (Tramo off-ramp) in Pasay City.

Road works are expected to begin at 11 p.m. Friday and will be completed by 5 a.m. on Monday.

In the meantime, it advised motorists to take alternate routes. (PNA)
