MANILA – Severe Tropical Storm Maring has so far left around PHP575.07 million worth of infrastructure damage in three regions, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Thursday.
Citing the latest data, the DPWH said the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded the highest cost of damage to roads and bridges at PHP486.76 million.
Meanwhile, Ilocos Region logged PHP45 million worth of infrastructure damage while Cagayan Valley recorded PHP43.31 worth of damage from the storm.
The DPWH also reported the reopening of 23 national road sections while 10 others remain impassable.
As of Thursday noon, six roads still closed are in CAR, two in Cagayan Valley and one each in Ilocos Region and Central Visayas due to soil collapse, debris flow, landslide, damaged bridge, and flooding.
Closed to all types of vehicles are the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, sections in Nagaparan, Danglas, Abra; Abra-Cervantes Road at Biweng Bridge, San Ramon, Manabo and in Subusob, Sallapadan, Abra; Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road in Butao and Namaltugan Section, Namaltugan in Calanasan, Apayao; Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road Palina, Kibungan, Benguet; Cong. Andres Acop Cosalan Road, Amlimay Buguias, Benguet; and the Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Boundary Road, in Puapo, Dangtalan, Pasil, Kalinga.
Other affected sections in other regions are the Manila North Road Bayugao Bridge, Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur; Cagayan Apayao Road, Itawes Bridge, Tuao, Cagayan; Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge, Cabagan, Sta. Maria, Isabela; and Cebu-Toledo Wharf Road, Barangay Manipis, Talisay City, Cebu. (PNA)
