MANILA – The Bureau of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) on Tuesday seized 2.3 kilos of shabu worth PHP15.64 million concealed in two shipments discharged at a warehouse in Pasay City.

In a statement, the bureau said the packages were imported from Malaysia and were declared as "clothing and pieces of cloth".

However, after a full physical examination, the subject shipments were found to contain white crystalline substances, which were subsequently tested and verified by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as shabu.

The BOC immediately turned over the seized illegal drugs to PDEA.

The PDEA will conduct case profiling and build up against persons responsible for possible prosecution for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002 (Republic Act 9165) in relation to Section 119 (Restricted Importation) and Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of Republic Act10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

The operation is in coordination with PDEA and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.

Last week, the BOC-NAIA also turned over to the agency PHP6.57 million worth of ecstasy that came from Germany. (PNA)
