ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) on Monday said it has received its 41st batch of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine shipment consisting of 315,528 doses from its central office in Manila.

Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH assistant regional director, said the shipment consisted of 195,468 doses of Pfizer; 99,760 Moderna; and 20,300 AstraZeneca.

Alpichi said DOH-9 has already received a total of 1,959,818 doses of vaccines since the government’s vaccination program rolled out in March, this year.

Of that total, he said 955,390 doses were Sinovac vaccines.

The rest are as follows: Pfizer, 437,658 doses; AstraZeneca, 304,850; Moderna, 139,520; Janssen, 109,200; and, Gamaleya, 13,200.

Alpichi said the DOH, in coordination with local government units, has started using a number of schools as additional vaccination centers where face-to-face classes have yet to begin.

He said they have also extended the number of hours and days of vaccination and will train additional vaccinators.

“Let us make the fight against Covid-19 a community-based effort to contain the spread of the virus,” Alpichi said.

He said a total of 565,625 individuals who belong to different priority groups have been fully inoculated since the start of the March vaccination program in the region.

They comprised 29.62 percent of the 1,909,558 eligible population to be vaccinated in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

A total of 603,328 individuals, representing 31.59 percent of the eligible population, have received their first dose of vaccine. (PNA)
