2 drug peddlers yield P100-K shabu in Marawi

PARANG, Maguindanao – Police officers in Marawi City arrested Thursday two suspected illegal drug peddlers and seized PHP108,820 worth of shabu during a buy-bust.

Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), identified the suspects as Benjamin Mangcol Abubakar alias “Romnick” and Nofail Campong Amenodin alias “Onak”.

The two suspects were nabbed by joint elements of the Marawi City police and the Lanao del Sur police provincial office in Barangay Bubonga, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Seized from them were the shabu items, drug paraphernalia, and marked money.

The suspects who are now under the custody of the Marawi police were charged with violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Ugale commended the operating units and urged them to intensify anti-drug operations as the country's election season approaches.

This year alone, at least 100 drug personalities have been arrested in various anti-drug operations across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, which is composed of the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi; the cities of Cotabato, Marawi, and Lamitan; and 63 villages in six towns of North Cotabato.
