MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Friday seized some PHP8.6 million worth of party drugs concealed in three shipments in Pasay City.

In a statement, the bureau reported that two of the packages contained a total of 4,547 pieces of ecstasy tablets that arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center and FedEx warehouse.

A total of 100 pieces of ecstasy tablets were found on the first shipment with an estimated street value of PHP170,000, while 4,447 tablets worth PHP7.6 million were discovered on the second shipment.

Meanwhile, Customs officers intercepted 178.8 grams of ketamine worth PHP892,500 from the third shipment.

The first package from the Netherlands was concealed in a letter addressed to a certain "Angeli Khang" from Tondo, Manila.

The second shipment that arrived from Germany was concealed in a turntable consigned to a certain "Patricia Reyes" and was declared as children's clothes, toys, and bags.

On the other hand, the third shipment originating from Malaysia consigned to a certain "Ferdie Santos" was found to contain the illegal substances concealed inside a water filter.

The shipments were subjected to 100 percent physical examination which yielded the discovery of dangerous drugs.

It added that the field tests conducted by authorities confirmed that the seized items were ecstasy and ketamine.

Meanwhile, the BOC-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) the seized illegal drugs for further profiling and case build-up against the consignee and other personalities involved for possible prosecution for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to Section 1401 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act of 2016.
