ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city health office (CHO) has opened five more vaccination centers as the inoculation for pediatric A3 (with comorbidities) and the rest of the pediatric population (ROPP) officially rolled out Monday in this city.

The pediatric vaccination centers are situated at the Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), KCC Mall de Zamboanga, SM City Mindpro, and Zamboanga Peninsula Medical Center.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, together with Department of Health (DOH) Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, Dr. Joshua Brillantes, and CHO chief Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite led the 8 a.m. vaccination kick-off ceremony at the Zamboanga Chong Hua High School.

“We open the five vaccination centers to provide more people with added protection against Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019),” Miravite said Monday.

On October 29, the CHO inoculated six children with comorbidities for its pediatric A3 vaccination opening ceremony at the ZCMC.

Salazar said the city government is taking on the challenge to increase vaccination with the main goal of achieving mass population immunity soonest.

Salazar said the city targets to inoculate 70 percent of its target population with the first vaccine dose vaccination by November 15, and 50 percent with the second dose by December 25.

The city government has earlier set a total eligible target of 694,696 individuals for its vaccination campaign here.

“By then we can ease restrictions and gradually open the city,” Salazar said Monday.

The mayor encouraged anew residents to register and submit themselves for vaccination to have added protection against Covid-19.

She also urged the people to comply with the minimum health standards and quarantine guidelines to control and prevent the spread of the virus even if they are fully vaccinated. (PNA)
