MANILA  – The nation's total number of recovered coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases has reached 2,750,531 after 2,759 new recoveries were reported on Wednesday.

In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said recoveries account for 97.5 percent of the total case count which has reached 2,820,494 since the start of the pandemic last year.

Meanwhile, some 1,190 new infections brought the total number of active cases nationwide to 23,846.

About 58.1 percent of these active cases are mild, 5.2 percent are asymptomatic, 5 percent are critical, 12 percent are severe, and 19.60 percent are moderate.

The country's Covid-19 fatalities increased to 46,117 after the DOH reported 309 new deaths.

“Of the 309 reported deaths, only 18 occurred in November 2021. About 61 percent of the reported deaths today occurred in October 2021 due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya,” the DOH said.

It said the issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date.

According to DOH data on November 15, about 3.5 percent of 33,567 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

"About 37 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 33 are recoveries. Moreover, 264 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.

All laboratories were operational on November 15, while one laboratory was not able to submit its data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

The DOH said one non-reporting laboratory contributed, on average, 0.1 percent of samples tested, and 0.1 percent of positive individuals based on data in the last 14 days.

To date, 33 percent of 3,700 intensive care unit beds, 29 percent of 20,700 isolation beds, 21 percent of 13,200 ward beds, and 21 percent of 3,100 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 33 percent of 1,300 intensive care unit beds, 25 percent of 5,100 isolation beds, 25 percent of 3,600 ward beds, and 22 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region. (PNA)
