PH Covid-19 active cases down to 22K

MANILA – The country's active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) dropped to 22,070 or 0.8 percent of the overall tally, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday.

In its case bulletin, DOH logged 1,474 new infections as well as 2,565 new recoveries, which raised the number of those who recuperated to 2,755,527.

Of the active cases, DOH said 58.1 percent are mild, 4.1 percent are asymptomatic, 5.3 percent are critical, 12.5 percent are severe, and 20.02 percent are moderate.

Meanwhile, 205 new fatalities were added, pushing the death toll to 46,903.

Since the pandemic began, the country has so far recorded some 2,824,499 confirmed Covid-19 cases.

The positivity rate is currently pegged at 3.2 percent based on the 38,636 individuals who were tested for SARS-CoV-2 last November 18.

About 32 percent of the country's 3,800 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for Covid-19 patients are presently occupied, including 28 percent of the 20,000 isolation beds and 18 percent of the 13,500 ward beds.

In Metro Manila, in use is 33 percent of the 1,300 ICU beds, 25 percent of the 4,700 isolation beds, and 23 percent of the 3,900 ward beds. (PNA)
